Bonding Moment with Dad at Mister Donut's newest TVC

Mister Donut has been around for such a long time that it really brings back happy childhood memories such as when my parents brought me some donuts as pasalubong. Then there's that memorable box of Mister Donut from my ex-bf (now hubby).

Real-life father and son tandem on-screen creates a familial nostalgia.
It’s been a long time since Mister Donut centered on very familial moments using real people in their ad campaign, and their newest TVC did just that.  Watching it creates a warm invitation to bond with the ones we are closest to and most familiar with.

The nostalgia in all of us kicks in when we find the very relatable “Papa” excited to bring his Mister Donut “pasalubong” to his real-life “Bunso” that includes the all-time bestseller Classic Bavarian Donut. When we see that Bunso was almost about to put aside the treat he just got, we automatically and silently celebrated when we realized that Bunso actually took the time to enjoy what his Papa got him, and the child in him is instantly awakened.
These fatherly bonding moments remind us of what it feels like to be a child again. Those instances when you get to celebrate the seemingly trivial things with your parent, like sharing a simple snack together after a grueling long exam, are really the ones that matter the most.
Mister Donut describes these moments as “punong-puno ng fillings”, just like the brand’s bestseller, the Bavarian Donut that now has 24% more filling, and their newest additions to their variety of products; the Filled Twist and XL Rolls. These give us more reasons to cherish the togetherness with a loved one while enjoying either a sweet or a savory treat.
The Bavarian Donuts with 24% more filling, Filled Twist and XL Rolls are now available at the nearest Mister Donut shop. Grab these good stuffs and enjoy them with your son, parent or siblings for moments “na puno ng fillings.”

One such restaurant is Putien,  whose dishes can be traced back to Fujian, China. Putien was awarded a 1-Star Michelin in 2016, this was in Singapore where the restaurant originated. It has then expanded with several restaurants in SG and in other countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China.

RECIPE: TKG's Pan-Grilled Maya-Maya With Calamansi Butter Sauce

I chanced upon some fresh-looking Maya-Maya being sold near my daughter's school today so I bought some. I don't really have a dish in mind when I bought it. Maybe fried, sinigang ... And upon checking the fridge and pantry (no more olive oil), I decided to marinate the fish in calamansi to remove the fishy taste. I pan-grilled the fish being careful not to burn it. Then I minced some garlic, cooked it in butter, added some salt and poured the sauce on top of the fish. And its ready to eat. And oh, I also steamed some cauliflower as a side-dish. Bon appetit!

RECIPE: TKG's Brownie Balls with Cointreau Infused Cranberries

We may still be quarantined inside our homes but that doesn't mean we have to let go of our love for food. And if there's something positive that happened in our new normal, I'd say that most people (including me) have discovered the simple joys of spending more time in the kitchen. Here's my take on a classic brownie recipe made special with Cointreau.
