I was craving for something different and Tenya caught my eye when I was searching the map for restaurants. I even crossed a bridge just to get there. Also, it's not a touristy area and only locals are familiar with the restaurant. I asked someone where Tenya is but she said she doesn't know. But when I mentioned sashimi, she knows it! Luckily, she and her companion are also dining at Tenya. And I guess I am meant to dine at Tenya because I was the last customer to be allowed in, before they placed the CLOSED sign on the door.
I'm not sure what to order but based on the photos, they serve chirashi bowls. Then the server was telling me that they only have a particular set available that time. That's okay, Btw, they don't speak English at the restaurant and the menu doesn't have pictures. I just trusted my instinct and I'm so glad I did.
Here's my lovely bowl of glistening fresh slices of sashimi that doesn't include the usual salmon and tuna. Wow!
Just looking at that presentation is drool-worthy already. Of course it's oishii and I told the chef that. And it was so good that I told him ooki oishii instead of tomemo oishii desu! Hahaha, but I know he understand what I meant to say.
The presentation was like a flower and included in the set is a small cup of miso soup and pickles. There's condiments on the table such as soy sauce, togarashi powder, fresh wasabi, citrus sauce that I can't recall the name and nori flakes.
The chirashi set costs only Y850! Ang mura and super filling and masarap. Planning to go back when I happen to visit Fukuoka again. I think this is my new favorite spot in Japan.
Another fun-fact is that this restaurant is near the port area and if you walk farther till you reach the warf, you can see the islands near Fukuoka and someone even mentioned that you can also see Busan, South Korea.
Itadamikasu!
