Bellysima Food Fair: Up Close and Personal

I always enjoy going to food fairs because this is where I discover new food vendors and yummy food finds. So last week, my daughter and I met up with some cousins at Glorietta 5 to check out Bellysima Food Fair. Bellysima is under the Mercato Centrale group. However, some will rejoice because Bellysima only runs during mall hours and its inside the mall, too so its much more convenient to shop.

Here are my food finds --

Chicharon from Apag Marangle. I have an aversion to dark-colored chicharon because I always thought its "malansa" but this chicharon from Apag Marangle changed my mind. I was thinking of using the chicharon for our favorite monggo dish but fell in love upon first bite. Now I only have a few pieces left (I don't even want to share- haha). Btw, it doesn't seem taste like its coated with fat when I eat it straight from the chiller. Yes, I hid the chicharon in the chiller. ;) Glad that Friday and Saturday are Bellysima days!

Chicken Flakes. We got the mild spicy one. Daughter likes to pair it with rice, while I prefer it on bread. The seller said it can also be paired with pasta. Will try that with what's left- haha.

Edible Cookie Dough. My daughter had the Red Velvet and Smores. She loves the red velvet while I am always partial to the ones with lots of chocolate. ;) These goodies last for about 3 weeks in the fridge so time to hoard now. Costs P120.

Lokalitea. The Turmeric Lemongrass is so good! I drank mine super cold from the fridge and its so refreshing especially now that we are having a "summer" weather again. A bottle costs P40 only. This is a healthier and cheaper alternative to coffee. I've also tasted the pandan flavor but I still like the lemongrass one.

Chocolate Mangoes by Cocoa Monster Manila. This box costs P250. I love the shape and its much more fun to bite this than the chocolate coated dried mangoes but they have that also. This is so good. Best as pasalubong also if you're visiting family and relatives abroad.

What's a food fair without ice-cream? Glad that they have Mio Gelati. Of course, daughter had the red velvet flavor. She gives it a thumbs up!

Another yummy find. This is a praline spread with nuts. Aside from spreading on top of crackers, I think this is also great as a tart filling. Can't wait to start baking. :)

A surprise (not food) find. Actually, we've been using the Wellness Spray of Neutra Organics since late last year and even my nephew and aunts swear by its "healing" powers already. Alas, they don't have a regular booth and because I am a traditional shopper (I love holding the product and checking the labels, etc) so ordering online from them is not really an option. Luckily, they have a booth in Bellysima and I was really happy to see them. Bought some bottles of the Wellness Spray for my nephew. Will post my review soon, stay tuned.

Here's daughter and my cousin. They're checking the Edible Cookie Dough booth. They happily went home with several bottles. Yum!

Bellysima is open every Friday and Saturday at Glorietta 5 Atrium from 10am-10pm.

NEW RESTO ALERT: Saigosan in Uptown Mall

Konnichiwa Saigosan! A new and funky izakaya recently opened at Uptown Mall headed by Chef Chris Oronce. This izakaya not only serves delectable dishes but is also a visual-feast. Inspired by animes, mangas, and JPop culture, Saigosan even has a train wherein you can hop from Kyoto to Osaka without a JR Pass!

NEW RESTO ALERT: Hà Nội Phố (Ha Noi Pho)

Makati has been a go-to place for my family and I to grab a meal or sometimes just to have a cup of coffee. Though, really, it’s mostly just us visiting our favorite spots. Recently, my mom went out of town so it was just my dad and I who went out for dinner.

Salcedo Market x Legaspi Market Tour

We haven't visited the weekend markets for years so I was giddy with excitement because I was able to visit both Salcedo and Legaspi markets this month, thanks to our Dusit Thani Manila staycation . To differentiate the two, Salcedo market  is held every Saturday at the Jaime Velasquez Park in Salcedo Village Makati while Legaspi market is held every Sunday at the Corinthian Carpark in Legaspi Village Makati. Since we were coming from Dusit Thani Manila, it was quite a long walk but it was early in the morning (around 8AM) and even Ayala and Makati Avenues were still without cars. Wow!
