The Coconut Cuisines of Muslim Mindanao

My earliest recollection of eating dishes from Muslim Mindanao was in the early 1980's when I usually tag-along as my father made his weekly trip to Binondo and Quiapo, and that was really a long, long time ago. So I was all excited and signed-up when I learned that the Culinary Historians of the Philippines (CHOP) is hosting a special luncheon highlighting the Coconut Cuisines of Muslim Mindanao.

Welcome to Honolulu HK Cafe

Honolulu HK Cafe hails from Hong Kong and this beloved decades old tea house has opened its second branch here in Robinsons Place Manila (first Philippine Branch is in SM Aura Premiere).

So what do we expect at this cafe? Here's what they served when I got invited to try the cafe's latest food offerings, as well as menu favorites.

For starters, we had Curry Fish Ball, P198. This is definitely a winner for me. I love that it is spiced just right for you to have another bite, not the kind of spiciness that burns the mouth. I think I can finish a whole serving of this.
