TKGEats at Mat Nam Chef's Table

Dining at Mat Nam is a wonderful experience especially if you love Korean food ... okay, that includes KDramas and Korean Chefs!

Got lucky to catch the second part which highlights dishes by Chef Kisu Bang. Thanks to Netflix, I got to watch Chef Bang as part of the 'White Spoons' in Culinary Class Wars. And a bit sad that I miss the first part of Mat Nam's Chef's Table that features Chef Young Sook Lee and Chef Jihyung Choi.

Also, I was craving for bibimbap and Chef Bang's take on bibimbap definitely elevates the experience.

Then there's Chef Patrick Go's amazing MSG! Haha, I know it's pun intended but since I am quite allergic to the 'real' msg, I was trying to dissuade my daughter from ordering it. Glad that she insisted because MSG was so good!

We also had the Halibut with Ginamos Rendang. Now this is sublime! In fact, hubby liked it so much that we went back before Mat Nam took its bow.

Actually, almost all the dishes at Mat Nam Chef's Table were delicious and thoughtfully crafted. Even the simple and common yakitori by Chef Byung Mook Kim was so good, we ordered it on our 2nd and 3rd visit. Btw, if you Google Chef Byung Mook Kim, he is known as 'Yakitori King," and is the owner of Michelin-rated Yakitori Mook, a Japanese yakitori- Korean streetfood fusion. Adding this to my list of restos to visit in Korea soon!

Nanban-zuke is Chef Kim's take on karaage. This is another delightful chicken chicken winner dinner for us. I think Chef Patrick Go should host a part 2 of Mat Nam soon or served some of it at Your Local.

Dweji Galbi Jjim is another favorite of hubby. Also, we didn't know that the serving size is huge and good for sharing. Meat is so tender and flavorful.

And I have to mention Chef Patrick's interesting take on Palabok. Instead of noodles, we turned this Pinoy favorite into a rice creation, with separate sauce that you pour on the steaming white rice that has 'palabok' ingredients bits. Amazing!

Of course, a meal is not complete without sweet endings and we were really curious about Choco na Gatas v2 which we wanted to order during the previous visits BUT we were so full back then. We had this on our last visit, just a few days before Mat Nam's run ended and I guess this the perfect sweet endings to the lovely mealS that we had at Mat Nam, thanks to Chef Patrick, Chef Kisu Bang and Chef Byung Mook Kim.
