The much-awaited annual Negros Trade Fair is back in Glorietta and there's a wide array of food-finds. Really, Negros is not just piaya or chicken inasal. There's a whole lot of food that needs to be discovered. From sweets to savory, coffee, dried fish, and even a Batwan plant!
This year's theme, 'Halad,' or 'to dedicate / to offer' is definitely just that as it presents the rich heritage of Negros thru its products.
Halad: The 38th Negros Trade Fair is from September 17-22, 2024 at the Glorietta Activity Center and Glorietta 2.
Giving a quick rundown on what to expect at the trade fair. The stalls in Glorietta 2 are mostly dedicated to non-food products although there are a few stalls there that offers food products also. The food stalls are at the Glorietta Activity Center.
There's a stall makes piaya, and they make it right in front of you. It was mesmerizing to watch how the 'manong' makes piaya. Check my video here: Piaya making. Of course, you can also buy the packed piayas and other cookies like galletas, But-ong (a suman-like delicacy), Guava pie, chorizo, dried seafood, Batwan jam, Batwan powder for sinigang or kansi, Casa del Formaggio, goat's milk barquillos, kadyos and other beans, chocolate bar and tableya, coffee beans, and a whole lot more. Plus, there are several stalls that sells meals like barbeques, chicken inasal, callos, lasagna, etc.
Best to go early because it's quite hard to navigate the stalls when there's many people. Also, better bring an extra tote bag or two just in case you love to stock up on food items and ingredients.
Payment accepted are cash, GCash/Maya, bank QR, and some accepts credit cards.
