TOYCON 2013 Launch

Daughter and I have been planning to attend a toycon for years now but we haven't been able to attend one until yesterday. And Toycon Philippines is already on its 12th year!

We arrive a bit early so we enjoyed looking the displays and tiangge sans the crowd.

The superheroes display was conveniently located at the ground floor, just near the main entrance and beside the escalators. I don't know all the names of the superheroes except a few like Superman, Thor, Hulk, Iron Man, Voltes V Base (hahaha, my age is showing!). Anyways, it was fun to take photos and reminiscing what its like to read comic books or watch related films. As for daughter, she can't relate to the superheroes thingy.

But she finds this booth exciting. Lots of anime-ish stuff on display ... este, for sale pala.

Then, the comics for sale. Actually, I do own some comic book myself as I am also a fan of Neil Gaiman. Does he count??

The doll below (forgot to ask its name), is one of the early birds also. Such a very pretty BJD, albeit a very expensive one. You can buy several barbies or pollypockets or lalaloopsies with one BJD. But then, this doll is a collector's item so I guess its worth the price. Here's a BJD FB Page - one of the numerous ones on fb.

Minions !!! Daughter and I just love them to bits. Looking forward to Despicable Me 2 movie on July 3, 2013. Mark your calendars now, minion-fans. ;)

V for Vendetta. Cute mask. But I'm not really familiar with the character but its cute and I've seen some of my fb friends who thinks they are V, using the photo as their profile pics.

But during the TOYCON launch, I got to meet V, himself. Look at him, wanting to give free hugs !!! Hahaha. Thank you, V, but no thanks. Don't kill me, okay?

And when we went back to the BJD booth, they've multiplied. Wow, really, really nice dolls. Lovely, lovely dolls. So, lifelike, some ethereal, some wicked!

That's Cholo (I think), during the opening ceremonies or rather, before showing the clip of Man of Steel which will be shown on June 12, 2013. If I'm not mistaken, it will be shown here first in Manila than in other countries.

That's a trooper from Star Wars, I think. He's modelling the costumes, or rather, the clothes.

Daughter and I missed the presscon because we watched The King and I , but I'm sure it turned out great.

And when we came back, daughter got starstruck upon seeing these anime characters ---

And lastly, the creme de la creme --- daughter got to see Alodia Gosiengfiao, up-close-and-personal. Actually, she was standing behind her- hahaha.

So after today's experience, we are looking forward to join the Toycon on June 14-16. And school opening is on June 14--- yikes! Bahala na si Batman! ;)

Salcedo Market x Legaspi Market Tour

We haven't visited the weekend markets for years so I was giddy with excitement because I was able to visit both Salcedo and Legaspi markets this month, thanks to our Dusit Thani Manila staycation . To differentiate the two, Salcedo market  is held every Saturday at the Jaime Velasquez Park in Salcedo Village Makati while Legaspi market is held every Sunday at the Corinthian Carpark in Legaspi Village Makati. Since we were coming from Dusit Thani Manila, it was quite a long walk but it was early in the morning (around 8AM) and even Ayala and Makati Avenues were still without cars. Wow!

Boracay's Hidden Gem: Mama's Fish House

I've always wanted to dine at Mama's Fish House in Boracay but wasn't able to for some forgotten reasons already. Then the pandemic happened and we're in lockdown or limited travel movement for almost two years. And guess what? One of the nicest thing to happen on our recent trip to Boracay was to discover that Mama's Fish House was located just outside the beach front of our hotel- Microtel by Wyndham Boracay . Talk about serendipity!
