Sawasdee, Thaipan

I've been hearing a lot of good reviews about this restaurant in Quezon City but since I live in Manila and doesn't frequent QC that much, it was only tonight that I was able to dine here. Thanking my lucky stars! :)

The restaurant opened its doors on September 28, 2010. It is owned by a group of friends who loves to travel, particularly in Asia. Also, there's no restaurant that specializes in Thai cuisine in the Scout Area back then so they chose that for the restaurant.

The restaurant used to be the home of one of the owners so they just remodeled the interiors a bit but still managed to retain its old world charm that complements greatly the Thai concept of the restaurant.

Thaipan Selection Appetizer (Kong Waang Thai), P350. The platter has chicken satay, spring rolls, crispy shrimp pastry and grilled pork wrapped in betel leaves. You can't go wrong with this because it has a bit of everything.

See Khrong Moo Yaang or Cinnamon Pork Ribs, P289. The pork ribs are so tender (and flavorful) that they melt in your mouth. The serving is also good for 2-4 pax. I love this dish.

Tom Khaa Kai is chicken and galangal in coconut creme soup, P270 for sharing and P145 solo. This is so, so good! Another favorite. I love the burst of flavors while sipping the soup. I can also taste kaffir leaves in this dish. The soup is not that spicy but you can request it if you like it "hot."

Panang Neur Yang or Beef Panang, P375. U.S. tenderloin in fragrant panang curry sauce. Drooling now! This is love at first bite. Really, no kidding.

Pla Lad Prik Sam Ros or Fish Fillet in Tamarind Sauce, P310. Deep fried fish fillet drizzled with tamarind chili sauce. Amazing, simply amazing dish. I'm in love.

Phad Thai, P310. Thai-style fried noodles with shrimp, pork, tofu, bean sprouts, chives and peanut sauce. I guess almost everybody is familiar with this popular Thai dish. Quite good, too. *sigh*

Thap Thim Krawp or Red Rubies, P160. This is my favorite dessert here because I love sweet things. The red rubies are water chestnuts. Good for sharing also.

They do serve authentic Thai food here so if you're craving for some, not need to fly to Thailand. Simply visit the restaurant in Quezon City. Also, what I like about the restaurant is that every dish is also a work of art and I love the orchid which is almost present in every dish they serve us. The staff are very courteous and friendly, too. Thumbs up!
