Taisho Ramen

Last Wednesday, I and some fellow foodies were invited to sample the ramen and other food offerings at TAISHO Ramen prior to its opening the following day at the Sky Garden, SM North. There seem to be a ramen-craze in the Metropolis lately or I should say, battle-of-the-ramen and that made me curious to try out the place.

The ramen house is very easy to find as its just near the entrance of The Block, and near the bridgeway towards Trinoma. Just look for the fountain.

Green Tea. I've learned to love green tea although I prefer mint flavored teas or the chocolate-infused ones. But since this is a ramen house, they serve green tea. Another drink on the menu is wheatgrass tea. Very healthy! P50 with unlimited refill.

At first, I thought that we were given ban chan (oooops! that's korean) but upon closer inspection, these two containers have garlic and red ginger. We were told that this can be added to the ramen so that it will be more flavorful. The garlic comes with a press (not in photo).

Miso Ramen. This is what I had because the owner highly recommended it. Good choice on my part because it is very flavorful. No need to add anything. I love that the ramen (which was freshly-made) is unlike the commercial ones. The noodle is al-dente (need to translate that in Japanese) and chewy. Btw, this is good for sharing unless you are confident that you can finish a whole bowl yourself. P235

Karamen. Just by looking at the photo, you'll know that its spicy. You can opt for a milder or spicier version. I had a sip of the broth and found that its too spicy for my taste. I prefer sweet things. Haha. P235.

Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen. The sesame enhances the flavor of this ramen. What I love about it is that you can still add some chilis, garlic or reg ginger compared to the Miso Ramen. The pork was very tender, and I like the egg. I just wish that they added more veggies. P195

Tebasaki. Crunchy Chicken Wings. This is definitely one of the best tasting crunchy fried chicken wings that I've tasted. The flavor is awesome, too. You'll be greeted by the sweet coating upon first bite then salt comes next while you chew, and there's a teeny hint of spiciness as soon as you swallow it. Highly recommended! P150

The management said they'll be offering more dishes soon so I promise to come back and visit soon. Also, daughter loves ramen, too so its definitely a GO-back for me. :)
