I know that Warabimochi Kamakura just opened in SM Megamall but I was already in HK at that time and I remembered seeing a Warabimochi near a Pop Mart store at Hysan Place in Causeway Bay. Curiosity got me especially with its choices of matcha lattes and coffee and mochis.
Kamakura Warabi-Mochi (that's how it was called in HK) is quite popular especially on a weekend. It is favored by both locals and tourists. Luckily, my friend was able to get a table when I was ordering our Asakawa-en's Matcha with Warabimochi latte drinks.
Given the choices, zeroing on the matcha is not really a no-brainer since the place is known for matcha drinks and cakes, and kakigoris!
The Asakawa-en Matcha with Warabimochi Latte that we got tastes amazing. I am not really into matcha since I prefer houjicha but it's good. And the warabimochis are quite delightful and taste was overall refreshing and doesn't have that powdery and bitter taste of matcha. It was a shame that we're still full from our late ramen and beef bowl lunch at Bari-Uma. Haha, we went to Hong Kong to feast on Japanese food!
Kidding aside, I'm excited to try the other flavors at Kamakura Warabi-mochi again (hopefully soon!).
