And just like that, I was back in Hong Kong to enjoy winter season and to satisfy my craving for roast goose. Yum!
The roast goose was really a priority and was lucky to choose a hotel surrounded by unfamiliar restaurants. I stayed in Aberdeen so I was really in an unfamiliar territory.
First discovery was at the Meat Take-Away shop in Tin Wan Street. I had roast goose meal that includes rice and boiled greens. Ate it at the hotel and paired it with cold Blue Mountain Blend Bottled Coffee bought from 7-Eleven. The serving portion was generous so I was quite full and decided to skip dinner. The roast goose was not at par with Ki's or Kam's but it was good on its own. Other take-away meat include pork char siu, steamed chicken, and boiled eggs.
After a quick nap, I hopped on the bus bound for Causeway Bay to get some egg tarts from Bakehouse. No kidding. Then I got bread with luncheon meat from the local bread store and Trapist Milk from 7-Eleven for my midnight snack. I'm a fan of Trapist Milk and I always but that whenever I happen to be in HK. As for the egg tarts, the ones at Bakehouse are quite popular that you have to go to the store early to buy and most of the time, there's a long queue of egg tart fans. But the other pastries and bread and coffee at Bakehouse are also good.
For Day 2, I went around Aberdeen port then bought some chips and bread plus milk bought from 7-Eleven for light morning snack before going to CWB again. For early dinner, I had the Pork BBQ Meal from Ki's Roast Goose CWB branch. I was tempted to order goose again BUT decided against it since I might develop feathers before coming back to Manila. Haha, just kidding. I love the pork bbq meal although again, generous serving especially the rice. Luckily, I always reach 8K or more steps when I travel.
My HS BFF was arriving on Day 3 so instead of going somewhere for breakfast, I just went around the neighborhood and got myself some noodle soup with shrimp dumplings from Cheung Fat. Then I paired it with cold bottle of C.C. Lemon soda from Wellcome Grocery. The noodle soup was delicious as well as the dumplings. I was eating it at the hotel lobby when my friend arrived and since I mentioned that there's a special Hello Kitty themed meal at McDonald's, she decided to eat her first HK meal there. After a short rest, I'm back in Causeway again, this time with my friend. Went around SOGO and WWWTC Mall. Bought egg tarts and Hong Kong milk tea at Orchid Padaria. The egg tarts here are different from Bakehouse. The ones at Orchid Padaria has a buttery cookie shell so can't really compare. It was good though, same with the milk tea.
My BFF went to HK Disneyland on Day 4 while I spent the whole afternoon in Stanley Bay. Before I left for Stanley, I had brunch at Mister Roast Goose in Aberdeen. The roast goose here is comparable to Ki's. Super delish! Then it was time to meet my BFF in IFC Central. Was supposed to have dinner somewhere in Tsim Sha Tsui but both of us got lost while looking for each other! Haha. Also, it was freezing cold so we just had burgers and fries at Shake Shack IFC Mall before heading back to our warm hotel room.
We left early the following day and took the ferry from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui. Day 5 was a mix of full shopping and eating. Haha! First meal (if you consider it) was a full cup of curry fish balls from one of the sellers near the ferry station in TST. As they say, a Hong Kong experience is not complete without street food. Then we had lunch at Bari Uma TST. The ramen and piping hot beef cube meal was a comforting hug vs the sudden drop in temperature outside. After TST, we took the train to CWB because the cold bothered us! Bought some pastries at Bakehouse and had matcha drink at Kamakura Warabi-mochi in Hysan Place. Before going back to the hotel, we bought our pasalubongs at Wellcome grocery.
Flight back to the Philippines was around lunchtime so we decided to just take Uber to the airport and have breakfast there. Bought flavored croissants from the newly opened Bacha at the departure area. Of course, I didn't forget to drop by Pop Mart which was not food related, I know!
Looking forward for the next round of TKGEats at Hong Kong Part 2. Stay tuned!
