A MOMful of Love: TKG's List of Restaurants for Mother's Day

I do believe that we need to celebrate our 'mothers' every day. We need to tell her how much we love her, and thank her for taking care of us, and loving us unconditionally. And of course, this annual Mother's Day celebration is doubly special. We can surprise our moms with flowers, gift, doing extra chores around the house, treat her to a pampering session, or whatever it is that makes our moms happy. But you know what? Most moms I know, including me (yes, I'm a mom, too!) takes pride when the whole family dines together.

So just in case you decide to treat 'mommy' to a special lunch or dinner or a fancy afternoon tea, I'm sharing my list of restaurants to bring mom on Mother's Day.

If your mom loves Filipino food, Via Mare, Milky Way, Fely J's, Gerry's Grill, JT's Manukan, and Max's are my top choices.

For moms that love Italian cuisine, the quaint Bellini's in Cubao Expo tops my list, followed by A Mano, Cibo, CPK, Giovanni's Ristorante, and Italiani's.

Dining in a Japanese restaurant is also a popular choice for special occasions so if you want to splurge, there's Uma at Dusit Thani or the reasonably priced Musashi-Maru in Glorietta. Then there's Nikkei, if your mom is into Japanese-fusion and the comforting Ooma.

There's a whole lot of choices for Chinese restaurant and China Blue by Jereme Leung tops my list, followed by Gloria Maris and Paradise Dynasty

And if you want to treat your mom to something fancy, Chef Jessie Rockwell, Mamou, Blackbird and The Peak Grill comes to mind.

Or you can just go to a buffet restaurant for the different food options. Circles at Shangri-La Makati tops my list, followed by Spectrum and Heat. Marco Polo Hotel's Cucina is also a nice choice. There's also World Kitchens in Gateway which has several cuisine choices from different countries.

For afternoon tea sesh with mom, I suggest The Lobby at Shangri-La Makati or The Lobby at The Peninsula Manila. I also heard that the afternoon tea at New World Hotel and Fairmont Hotel are equally amazing.

But what if mom prefers to stay at home and just want food to be delivered to avoid the crowd? Mang Inasal's Fiesta Bilao comes to mind, as well as Panda Express, North Park, and Yellow Cab.

For the adventurous mom, Juniper by Josh Boutwood tops my list, followed by Matnam, Mango Tree, Lusso, Grace Park, Toyo Eatery and Pardon My French.

For dessert, I suggest cakes from Cru Kitchen, Chef Jessie Rockwell, Mary Grace Cafe, Goldilocks and Casa Elmira. Cupcake? Magnolia Bakery. Ice Cream cake? Only DQ (Dairy Queen) comes to mind.

And if mom is a coffee-lover, Hoshino has good coffee and nice ambiance for Mother's Day. Then there's Yardstick, Paul, Mary Grace Cafe (their coffee is good!) and Terry's Bistro.
