My family loves to eat but it was a friend, B.G. who introduced me to gastronomic delights in the late 1990's. I remember the nights when we (along with other friends) would roam the streets of Nakpil and other streets in Malate just to satisfy our food cravings. Our fave pit-stop then was Hap Chan in Malate and Whistlestop in Shangrila Plaza or Makati.
There was also a time when another foodie friend recommended RJ's Bulalo near Boni Avenue Circle. This was a very memorable dinner with B. The bulalo itself was delicious but he made it extra special by surprising me with .... wine! We had so much fun and laughter that night. Imagine the pairing- wine and bulalo.
And I can't forget the time we dined at Circles in Makati Shangri-La. After stuffing ourselves with food and dessert, he suddenly left me for about half an hour and when he came back, he was holding this box of cherries that his aunt just brought from Hong Kong. Yum! Glad that the resto didn't charge us for corkage.
Salted Eggs
The eggs were given by hubby's client who owns a poultry farm and balut business in Pateros. These are duck eggs so its bigger than chicken eggs and tastes a bit different. The egg, when cooked is much more firm or rubbery (?) that chicken egg.
These salted eggs, are not that salty and I love the natural oil once you opened it. Sadly, I forgot to take a photo of an opened egg because it went straight to the tummy. Nice paired with rice or bread or even by itself.
