NEW RESTO ALERT: Hoshino Coffee Greenhills Mall

Hoshino Coffee is a popular cafe in Japan and it opened its first branch here in Manila early this year.  We first tried Hoshino Coffee in Singapore (coffee only!) so I wanted to try the branch at the Greenhills Mall also. Luckily, my friends and I are having lunch in Greenhills so I think I'll suggest we have our coffee and desserts at Hoshino.

My friends and I haven't seen each other for months so this was like a day of catching up for us. Also, our fondness for food was the beginning of our friendship.

It was past 2pm but Hoshino was still full! But since there's only 3 of us, it was quite easy to get a table.

Hoshino Coffee is located at the Ground Floor of Greenhills Shopping Mall, and is conveniently near Ortigas entrance. It's hard not to miss it because the cafe looks very pleasing.

Similar to the kissatens in Japan, Hoshino Coffee has a very nice ambiance. It can even be described as a Showa Era kissaten. Tricolore Ginza has a similar ambiance. Check link: Tricolore Ginza

We wanted to order the matcha cake but it was sold out already. The server suggest the Matcha Pancake Souffle Style. We also got French Toast with Vanilla Ice Cream. Actually, everything on the dessert menu looks yummy, and it was hard to choose.

I love the French Toast A La Mode! Thick bread dipped in wonderful milky sweet syrup with hints of cinnamon. The ice cream adds a nice contrast to the flavors.

Moving on to Matcha Pancake Souffle Style. Japan is not just known for ramen or sushi, the country is also synonymous with matcha. And this matcha dessert at Hoshino Coffee is not an exception because it is super delightful. Pillowy soft and smooth in texture, then slathered with generous matcha sauce. Of course, there's matcha ice cream, chewy mochi balls, sweet red beans, and a strawberry. The different flavors gives the pancake added points that will make you enjoy it more!

Of course, what's a dessert without coffee, right? Besides, the cafe is called Hoshino Coffee so getting a cup or two or three is not impossible.

Alas, our coffee variant doesn't pair well with the french toast and matcha pancake. But on its own, the coffee was definitely good.

To sum it up, my friends and I enjoyed our 'chikahan' at Hoshino Coffee. Excited to dine here again soon.
