Restaurants selling grilled unagi (eel) are quite popular in Narita, some even attracted a lot of diners who really queued up just to get seated. I happily skipped the line and found a nice restaurant that serves donburi and I'm happy with my meal even if the staff doesn't speak English and the other staff is Korean!
I had the Ten-don and it tasted delicious. It even has a fried okra and a bowl of refillable seaweed soup. Afterwards, I went to the big Ario Mall to eat a belated dessert at Mister Donut, and bought takeout Chirashi-don and Macaroni salad at the grocery and fruit.
Fruit in Japan is quite cheap compared to Manila so I always try to hoard in my tummy!
I also made a few runs to Family Mart and Lawson to buy some bread, chips, milk, juice and the famous Fami-chiki.
I did another round of morning hike at Naritasan Park before having brunch somewhere in Omotesando Street also. This time, I got chicken karaage and cold soba noodles which surprised the staff since temperature was cold outside (mid-autumn) and every one else at the restaurant was ordering piping hot food and noodles.
For dessert, I am super happy with the yogurt ice-cream with maple honey at Sugi Bee Garden. This store also sells honey and honey products such as propolis capsules and honey-based skin cream.
Then it time to pack my bags and take the train to Tokyo and my first full meal was at Pepper Lunch in Shin-Koiwa. I had a serving of beef steak and veggies. Oishi!
Then another beef meal but this time at Yoshinoya in Kinshicho, and a nice chocolate float with ice-cream for dessert at Roget's Cafe. And I think I have a beef with beef (literally) because the following day, I found myself having lunch at Gyu-kaku and coffee at Yanaka Coffee plus a custard taiyaki from OIOI Mall. For dinner, I was all-set to go to Ikebukuro because I was craving for Sekai No Yamachan, which we had in Nagoya several months back. Luckily, I discovered that it has a branch in Ueno. Yum!
After a bit of shopping in Olinas Mall, I find myself craving for spicy dry ramen. Dessert was Kaki or persimmon. Super love this fruit!
My friends and I toured Ginza the following day and had late lunch at Tim Ho Wan because they haven't tried it yet. We had siomai, pork buns, fried spring rolls, ho fan, and spareribs rice. Dessert was a chocolate pastry from Joel Robuchon in Marunouchi Brick Square.
It was another steak meal when we visited Odaiba the next day. I forgot to check the restaurant's name but it was at the food hall of Diver City.
Then we had Monjayaki (the Tokyo-version of Okonomiyaki) somewhere in Asakusa Shopping Street. I think I like this better than okonomiyaki! Paired it with a glass of ume wine. We got the monjayaki with mentaiko, and grilled squid.
Another exploring day but this time at Kameido, Discovered this bread shop that sells- salt bread. I know I have to get one so that I can compare it to Myeongdong's salt bread! Hahaha. For lunch, I had tempura and cold soba at Tenya.
I know it's weird but I was craving for my nth beef but opted for a Korean-inspired beef bowl. It's okay, filling but far from being a beef bibimbap.
I have several konbini and grocery runs where I bought fruit, veggies, sashimis, etc but time to pack my bags and go home. And yes, I also bought tons of hot vendo drinks because I need to warm my hands- hahaha!
The day before my flight back home, I went around Narita again for another round of ice cream. I was curious about this particular ice-cream store since it always has a line of tourists and locals. I got a cup of 'raw' chocolate ice cream and it was delicious. A bit nutty, too. No wonder there's always a people lining up. Making mental note to go back here. Then I got a stick of grilled rice cracker with nori. For dinner, I had a bowl of noodles with vegetables, which kinda makes me think of chopsuey.
I had an early flight so I just bought some bread at the airport and slept almost the whole flight back.
Looking forward to my next Tokyo-Eats soon, Stay tuned!
