TKGEats at Singapore Part 5

Weekend trips are the best, most especially if you just want to chill and eat. And that's exactly what we did a couple of weeks ago. We manage to book a reasonable airfare and the enjoyed Singapore's dining scene- from our favorites to dining at new places.

Since we took the earliest flight, we were at Changi Airport before lunch. Was thinking of having coffee before lunch but end up going around Jewel. Hubby did enjoy his morning coffee while daughter and I were busy going up and down Jewel. For lunch, we decided to eat at Food Republic where we had Roast Chicken Rice Meal, and Indonesian Fried Chicken plus veggies from another food stall which we paired with Iced Teh Tarik and Iced Milo Dinosaur.

For dinner, we had Fish Noodle Soup and Liver Soup at our favorite hawker- Food Loft, in Aljunied.

Day 2, woke up early because daughter signed up for 'spinning' class somewhere near Raffles Station but she wanted to eat Kaya Toast + Egg + Kopi. Yum! Lunch was at Paya Lebar Square- hubby had his favorite Fish Soup and Rice combo, while daughter opted for a delicious Lamb Rendang. I was craving for Thai food so I got Thai Spicy Tofu Meal which turned out to be really, really spicy.

Fish noodles, fish soup or fish congee is popular in Singapore hawkers. It doesn't really taste that amazing but it's a filling but 'light' meal. And healthy, too.

Dinner was at the food hall area of The Shoppes MBS where we discovered this super delish 'hawker-style' bbq chicken wings. A bit expensive though but so worth it! We also ordered HK Chicken and Crispy Pork Meal. Very filling meals that we decided to skip dessert and just have coffee at Angelina.

If you find yourself in The Shoppes MBS, I suggest having coffee or dessert at Angelina. The coffee is reasonably priced (not so much the food) but tastes really, really good! Also, the cafe has a very nice ambiance since it's located above the 'Grand Canal.' Think Venice but in Singapore surrounded by shops.

We have separate schedules on Day 3. Daughter had brunch date at --- and two coffee-crawl at --- . Hubby was somewhere in Sentosa attending a conference and 'poor' me was all alone in MBS- haha!

I had super late lunch at Huat Huat BBQ Chicken, the very same one we discovered the night before. It was that good (and memorable) that I have to dine again. I even ordered extra wings! Coffee was at Angelina's again. I've been meaning to read while sipping coffee but I forgot to charge my tablet. This is why actual books are still better than digital ones!

Met hubby and daughter in Marina View in the evening because hubby wanted to dine at Lau Pa Sat. We all haven't tried Lau Pa Sat (too touristy) but we did enjoy it (but not the price!). Hubby tummies at Lau Pa Sat- we had 3-kinds of satays (chicken, beef, lamb + prawn) from the famous satay street; we also had the amazing crab fried rice and huge xiao long baos. Washed the food down with lemonade (too much oily food, lah!). No room for dessert and we're literally full and bursting. We didn't even mind the long walk from Lau Pa Sat to Fullerton because we needed the 'exercise.'

Manila-bound the following day (except for the hubby who stayed for several days more) and daughter and I had brunch at SATS Premier Lounge in Terminal 1 Changi. Had DIY laksa, chicken rendang, macaroni salad, kueh, and chocolate muffin.

Back in Manila by evening and instead of cooking, we just ordered from McDonald's!
