NEW RESTO ALERT: Livestock

Livestock is a new restaurant along Sgt. Esguera in Quezon City. Its barely a year-old but is already getting raves for its crispy pata. The restaurant is located at the Jardin de Zenaida Compound, which is just in front of El Jardin Condo and a short walk from ABS-CBN.

The owners of this restaurant raises their own hogs so that's where the inspiration for the name, Livestock came from.

The restaurant is quite spacious and there's an area for large functions on the second floor. There's also a well-stocked bar and you can have your drinks in the al fresco area on the mezzanine or on the second floor. The mezzanine area also hosts the restos barbeque nights.

Drunken Mussels. This is quite mouthwatering and I'm really tempted to have a bite of those fat and juicy mussels from New Zealand but it has beer and I'm allergic to it. But then, I know that this appetizer tastes good since my foodie companions wiped everything out.

Ceasar Salad. The twist here is the crispy pork belly in lieu of bacon bits. I love this salad especially the dressing which is not overpowering compared with the other Ceasar salad dressings' that I've tasted. Another winnner here is the crisp romaine lettuce. I mean, I don't know why some restaurants serve soggy lettuce in their salads.

Four Egg Spinach. The poached ones are quails eggs, then there's salted egg, century egg and egg. I find this dish similar to the ones served in Chinese restaurants.

Crispy Pata. I call this- A Crispy Pata Like No Other! Because instead a knife, you can slice the crispy pata using a popsicle stick. That's how tender the crispy pata is but the skin crunchy. The meat is also flavorful since its pre-cooked with herbs and spices. Thumbs up!

Lechon Tom Yum. This is a must-try dish at Livestock. The broth is very flavorful and the lechon ... the lechon ... the lechon is just amazingly lechon in tom yum. I mean, I love lechon so that explains everything. According to Ms. Ching Uy, the owner and chef, they use also fresh herbs which they grow on the al fresco area.

Dis Kabab. The name of the dish is a playful twist to- this is kabab. ;) Yumyum. I love the  Middle-Eastern taste of this dish including the herbs and spices. Truly memorable and made my tummy happy.

Fish.

Pork Belly. This dish reminds me of my favorite Balamban liempo. Oh my- rice please!

Bacon Ice Cream on French Toast. This is love. The maple flavored ice cream has bacon bits and pairs well with the french toast. Its not that sweet also. Two thumbs up!
