The Maya Kitchen Presents Chef George Lizares Of LJC Group

This coming November 29, 2014, Chef George Lizares of the famed LJC Group of Restaurants will share special recipes as a tribute to Larry Cruz of the iconic restaurants such as Cafe Adriatico, Bistro Remedios, and Cafe Havana.

Entitled "A Christmas Dinner Larry Would Love," Chef George will prepare Cheerful Feta and Watermelon Salad; Kingfish and Shrimp Curry in Coconut; Chicken with Three Mushrooms; Couscous with Seven Vegetables; and Baklava.

The recipes are a tribute to the late Larry Cruz, founder of LJC Group. Chef George started working for the LJC Group in 1998 as an F&B manager. He is now the corporate executive chef of LJC.

Aside from LJC Group, he also worked for the Bistro Group, Julius Maggie Kitchen, Taal Vista Hotel, Camp John Hay, and many others both here and abroad.

To quote Larry Cruz- "A good meal is one that satisfies all the senses ... More than just looking good, it has to taste good ... match the setting ... More important for me, it should be enjoyed with someone."

Degustation Dinner With The Culinary Historians Of The Philippines

I've attended a lot of food tasting, degustation, and other food related events but having a degustation dinner with the Culinary Historians of the Philippines (CHOP) is a different and surreal experience. These are the group of real "foodies." Those who take time to explore new places (including provinces) and compare the dishes from this place with that place.

I remember a nice conversation I had with my tablemates about halo-halo. According to one CHOP member, there's this small store in Nasugbu, Batangas that's famous for its halo-halo. Alas, it only opens at 3pm daily and closes until all the ingredients run out. Deets about CHOP and halo-halo soon.

The venue for the Degustation Dinner was at 100 Revolving Restaurant.

Triple O's Now Open in SM Aura Premier

Triple O's Burger, the famous Canadian burger place opens its second store in the Philippines and is located at the posh SM Aura Premier in Taguig City.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Pocari Sweat

I admit I haven't heard about Pocari Sweat until it was offered to me for review. Living under a rock has its disadvantages- haha.

I didn't really know what Pocari Sweat is until the bottles were given to me. The first thing that comes to mind was- Energy Drink. However, I was corrected that it was an Ion Supply Drink. A what? I am familiar with alkaline drink but an ion drink is quite new to me.

CEBU: Cafe Tiala

My last foray to Cebu was in 2012 and there are so many new things and restaurants and coffeeshops to discover during my trip last September. I've made a list of the restaurants I wanted to visit but my friend suggested Cafe Tiala. It also happens that she haven't tried dining at the place yet. Yey!

Treat-and-Treat

This is a long overdue post but still worth posting.

Last October 30, my daughter covered the Nickelodeon event in SMX Convention Center. And because we don't frequent that area, she wanted to try the drinks at Caffe Bene. I was in for a surprise though because she said that she's picking the tab!
