Happy 116th Philippine Independence Day

What can be a more fitting celebration for Philippine Independence Day than dining at our very own Filipino Restaurants and savoring our history through sumptuous Filipino dishes.

Here's my list of restaurant suggestions:

Aristocrat for its famous chicken barbeque.

Casa Roces for its beef tapa or tapsilog.

RECIPE: Tokwa't Baboy

It's been raining and flooding like crazy for almost a week now that today's ray of sunshine made everyone happy including me. Of course I enjoyed the monggo, the nilaga, the sopas, the sinigang, etc during the rainy days but I'm craving for something different tonight, something I haven't cooked for ages and something to cheer us up at home as we finally bid goodbye to Maring (typhoon Trami).

RECIPE: Mestizang Kare Kare

You must be wondering about why its called--- Mestizang Kare-Kare, right?

Ingredients:

3-5 pcs lamb chops
1 medium puso ng saging (banana heart), sliced
1 big bunch of peachay
eggplant (optional)
sitaw (optional)
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
4 sachets ground Happy Peanuts
1 tsp of peanut butter- I used Reese Creamy
flour or rice flour
1 tsp of bagoong
ground pepper
salt

RECIPE: Lamb Chops Caldereta

Availed of the B1T1 Lamb Chops at Rustan's Fresh last night so we are in for a meaty week. (Sings--- Mary had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb... Mary had a little lamb ..) Alas, today is a rainy Tuesday afternoon so grilling is definitely a no-no. Luckily, daughter loves caldereta so its Lamb Chops Caldereta Night for us.
