Balikbayan Favorites

My cousins from Canada arrived recently and us, being Filipinos took that as a sign to organize a welcome fiesta over the weekend.

It was fun to think about the dishes that we're having because my cousin's last visit to Manila was more than a decade ago. And even if she cooks Filipino food in Canada, it is still different when you eat it here in Manila.

Al Fresco At Puerto Del Sol

Puerto Del Sol is one of the most picturesque resort that I've been to. This resort is located in Bolinao, Pangasinan. We happen to be here because Baguio was super crowded and Little Bear wants to go swimming. You can read about our Day 1 in Puerto Del Sol here and Day 2 in Puerto Del Sol here

We were quite famished when we arrive because we didn't eat lunch along the way thinking that Bolinao was just two hours away from Baguio. After freshening up which includes the kids jumping in the pool, we adults proceeded to the Al Fresco Restaurant of the resort. And I immediately fell in love with the charming water container.

The Aristocrat: An Affair To Remember

Last September 8, I joined a food tour organized by the Aristocrat Group and Openrice.Ph Team. We all met up early in the morning at The Aristocrat in Malate which is the main branch. This food tour excites me as I literally grew up eating at Aristocrat with every possible occasion that my family can think of. Sometimes during birthdays, Valentine's Day, Graduation Day (almost every year since my mother was a school teacher), after watching a show in CCP or MET, Sundays, or simply any day that my family had the urge to dine there.

Charlie Wanton Special

Hubby and I have been running around town the whole day today so come dinner time, my energy failed me in the kitchen and I still have to feed hubby and daughter.

Luckily, our house is just walking distance from these fastfood restos --- Shakey's, Jollibee, KFC and Chowking. Then there's also Aling Banang's (tapsilogan), Hosena's (bulalo et al), several lechon manok stalls, numerous carinderias, and Hypermart (lots of food stalls that includes a Mang Inasal branch). But we decided to walk farther (free exercise) until we reached Charlie's.
