Me and my mommy-mates haven't been going out much lately because of our different skeds but when we do have time, we make it a point to bond over food and (sometimes) shopping. ;)
We were sked to go to a different restaurant today but because that resto doesn't serve dimsum, we opted to go to Wan Chai. I'm glad I told J and Ina to choose the resto this time since I wanted to taste something new. Actually, I've seen and passed by Wan Chai for so long that I think it is high time to visit it now--- and I'm glad I did. :)

Charlie Wanton Special
Hubby and I have been running around town the whole day today so come dinner time, my energy failed me in the kitchen and I still have to feed hubby and daughter.
Luckily, our house is just walking distance from these fastfood restos --- Shakey's, Jollibee, KFC and Chowking. Then there's also Aling Banang's (tapsilogan), Hosena's (bulalo et al), several lechon manok stalls, numerous carinderias, and Hypermart (lots of food stalls that includes a Mang Inasal branch). But we decided to walk farther (free exercise) until we reached Charlie's.

Pre-Mother's Day Celebration at Gloria Maris Part III
Fish in Soy Sauce

Scary!!!!!!!!! Hahaha. Hubby was the one who suggest the photo composition.

Fish-Lip Soup. Its okay but I don't want my imagination to run wild. :P

Chicken. Hands-off for me and daughter. Still eating pig and shrimps.
Now this is L-O-V-E. I don't usually eat and like buchi BUT the ones from Gloria Maris changed my mind.

Breakfast At Lam Tin
I have to thank my foodie-mate because if not for her, I wouldn't be able to discover this Chinese Restaurant. This is similar to Wai-ying in Binondo except that it is located in Banawe (think car parts and accessories). Also, it is was one the few resto in the area that's open before 8am.
First photo is a very nice luscious-looking hakaw. This is good but I still think that Wai-ying's hakaw is better. It is still filling, though.
Sharksfin siomai. It's not really made from sharks fin so there's no animal-cruelty involved unless one is a vegetarian. And this is G O O D and I am not really fond of siomai but this one is so so G O O D. See? G O O D.
Congee with century egg. Like siomai, congee is not something I will order unless someone forced me to. I usually associate congee with fever (visualize a sick child who can't swallow anything but congee/porridge). And surprise, surprise. I liked it. Very flavorful and filling. It warms not only the tummy but the heart as well. Brings back happy memories of childhood when warmth means being entwined in a parent's embrace.

Winter Garden At The China Palace
One fine Saturday, the family (including a balikbayan aunt and a Dutch uncle) found ourselves in the highlands. The travel was really uneventful especially for me- I slept the whole nine yards. Then there's the picture-taking session with Taal Volcano as the backdrop. The ducks were missing from the pond. Did we just ordered roast duck?! Hehehe.
These are what we ate and some others ...

Roast Chicken. The kids love the kropek! ;) Well, the chicken was delicious but still, kropek is kropek especially if there are kids around.

Gloria Maris Part II
After the delicious appetizers, we were served the following:
Salted Fish Fried Rice. Yum! My favorite.
Beef. Quite good. Tummy just too full with shrimps- Hahaha
Fish Lip Soup. Don't like this one. The "lip" part creeps me out!
Yangchow Fried Rice. Okay but I already had the salted fish fried rice.
Fried Chicken. I know its yummy but I've been avoiding chicken like crazy lately. I just ate a few kropeks.
Gloria Maris Part I
Double celebration for the family today. My nephew just graduated and it is his lolo's birthday, too.
We all trouped to Gloria Maris, Greenhills for lunch. All means more than several families so there's tons of nephews and nieces, two lolas and a lola plus cousins and aunts and uncles.
