Jolly University 2015 Goes To UST

Last Tuesday, Jolly University held a cooking competition for three teams at the University of Santo Tomas (UST). The winning team will then join the Jolly Boot Camp and eventually compete with the other winning teams from other colleges and universities in Metro Manila.

Kamuning Bakery

I've been curious about Kamuning Bakery for a very long time but haven't really visited the place until last week when I joined an unplanned food crawl in Quezon City with fellow bloggers. Actually, I almost didn't make it because of some errands. Luckily, I was able to rendezvous with the group and even met Mr. Wilson Flores of Kamuning Bakery.

All-Day Breakfast At Figaro

It was an unplanned foodcrawl in Quezon City with some bloggers and since I have some free time before I fetch my daughter from school, I happily joined the foodcrawlers. First stop was Figaro along Tomas Morato.

Figaro's one of the most established local coffeshop in Manila and its been around for two decades. Of course, they serve the best coffee (according to my coffee-crazed husband). But Figaro has more to offer than just coffee- they also have pasta, pizza and sandwiches, pastries, and the All-Day Breakfast.

RECIPE: Chocolate Meringie Kisses

CHOCOLATE MERINGUE KISSES

1 tablespoon          MAYA Cornstarch

6 tablespoons        sugar

2                                  egg whites

1/8 teaspoon          cream of tartar

pinch                         salt

½ teaspoon             vanilla extract

1 tablespoon          cocoa powder

 dark chocolate, melted, as needed

Sunday Family Brunch At The Crimson Hotel

For us Filipinos, Sundays are best spent with the family. We usually eat lunches together and go to the mall to watch movies or do some shopping. Sundays are also the day wherein it just feel so right to wake up late.

So every Sunday of the month, indulge in a brunch-feast with the whole family at Crimson Hotel Filinvest in Filinvest City, Alabang. Aside from the usual brunch, the hotel also considered the kids (and kids-at-heart) when they thought of the special kiddie corner that features tons of fun (and games) and a special buffet treats that's guaranteed to satisfy even the picky-eaters.

RECIPE: Chocolate Heart Fudge Brownies

The whole month of February is associated with love. So here's a recipe from The Maya Kitchen to sweeten your relationship.

1 pack                                 MAYA Chocolate Fudge Brownie Mix 500g

½ cup                                  butter, softened

2                                          eggs

1 tablespoon                        water

½ cup                                   chopped cashew nuts

dark chocolate, melted, as needed

chocolate heart cut-outs, as needed

whipped cream (optional)

Angel Food Cake:

½ cup + 1 tablespoon     MAYA Cake Flour, sifted

1/8 teaspoon                   salt

¼ cup                              sugar

½ +1/3 cup                      egg whites

½ teaspoon                      cream of tartar

1 teaspoon                       vanilla extract

¼ cup                               sugar

On its second year, the Jolly University Tour this 2015 goes to 15 competing schools and one of them is Letran College in the walled city of Intramuros. Colegio de San Juan de Letran is quite a popular school and its been around for ages. Think Jose Rizal.

Duck & Buvette is barely a year-old but since it opened last June 2014, it has gained quite a huge followers from foodies and non-foodies. And for those who love Shangri-La Plaza, the restaurant may be new but the owners and staff are still the same when they used to operate Cafe Provencale.

Despedida Dinner At Peking Garden

I've had great memories at Peking Garden especially when most of our elders were still around. But this time around, my Dutch uncle was the one who invited us for a despedida dinner. He and my aunt arrived early January and are flying back to Holland in a few days.

I really can't recall when Sbarro opened but this Italian restaurant has been around for more than a decade. They serve the best white cheese pizza and penne pasta. Kimbob is relatively new but ever since our tv stations got invaded with KDramas, we all seem to adapt to Korean food. They serve bibimbap and other Korean meals. As for Kain-Kainan, the resto serves mouthwatering Filipino dishes.

I've been a fan of Vikings Buffet ever since they opened their first restaurant near Mall of Asia. The restaurant doesn't really have crazy lines back then but the food has been consistently good. So when I got an email invitation from Vikings SM BF to try out their newly opened branch down south, I didn't think twice about it.
