Fishta Seafood, A Farm to Table Backed by 35 Years of Aquaculture Excellence

Fishta Seafood is setting the bar high with its 'gold standard' for food safety in the Philippines. This is backed by Santeh Feeds Corp., 35 years of aquaculture expertise. Just recently, Fishta Seafood has launched its 100% Traceable and Locally Sourced (TLS) initiative, ensuring that every fish, from farm to the family table, is raised with scientific precision and zero antibiotics.

BORACAY: Beach Camp Lunch with AlDub

It was a bright and sunny day when we arrived in Boracay so after settling down in our rooms at Azalea Hotels & Residences, we were driven to D'Talipapa. We all find it amusing though because we all thought that D'Talipapa is far from the hotel but its just nearby and maybe 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

Our host, Ms. Jo of Azalea chose Beach Camp. The restaurant, or rather the "paluto" place is similar to the "Dampa" along Macapagal Avenue in Pasay. Lucky us, its not tourist season so we had the resto all to ourselves. I asked Ms. Jo what's the specialty food of Boracay and she said- seafood.

Lee Hak

The name of the restaurant reminds me of a Korean rom-com character from the Rooftop Prince.

Recipes for The Lenten Season

In the Philippines where the Lenten Season is strictly observed by the majority of the populace, seafood prices tends to skyrocket during this time. This is also the time when vegetables especially monggo are being favored and meat takes a backseat. But we all love seafood at home and we are not that really mindful of the price since it goes back to its normal rate after Easter.

I have here some recipes (easy-to-prepare) that I'd like to share with you. :)

Dory in Mango Creme Sauce

Silverio's In Dagupan, Pangasinan

We were supposed to have lunch somewhere near Bolinao, Pangasinan but the restaurants along the highway were full of diners and we can't find a parking space so we ended up in Dagupan (still in Pangasinan). That's about 2hrs away from Bolinao so we were quite famished and the kids cranky also. Silverio's was just after the bridge and along the highway and we were puzzled when we arrived because we saw parked vehicles outside but can't spot diners inside.

But the staff who greeted us led us to the al fresco part of the restaurant which is right beside the river- wow! So that's where the diners are.

Filipino Cuisine at Sentro 1771

Lunch yesterday was at Sentro 1771 in Serendra. The restaurant has an array of mouth-watering Filipino dishes to offer including its famous Sinigang na Corned Beef that began the Filipino Cuisine evolution from traditional to modern. We dined at the Serendra branch yesterday to check out the new dishes on the menu and also got to meet Chef Vicky Pacheco. Wow!

RECIPE: TKG's Pan-Grilled Maya-Maya With Calamansi Butter Sauce

I chanced upon some fresh-looking Maya-Maya being sold near my daughter's school today so I bought some. I don't really have a dish in mind when I bought it. Maybe fried, sinigang ... And upon checking the fridge and pantry (no more olive oil), I decided to marinate the fish in calamansi to remove the fishy taste. I pan-grilled the fish being careful not to burn it. Then I minced some garlic, cooked it in butter, added some salt and poured the sauce on top of the fish. And its ready to eat. And oh, I also steamed some cauliflower as a side-dish. Bon appetit!

Dampa Farmers

Once in a while when we happen to be in Cubao and can't think of a restaurant, we'd head off to Farmers market to buy some seafood (yes, I love going to the market) and then bring it to the "dampa" section where you can choose from several "paluto" restos. We always end up at S-I-S, I don't know why.

Kilawing Tanigue. Hubby and I love this!

Calamares. Another favorite. Daughter loves this so much that we always make sure that to buy some extra for her take-home!

Sinigang na Hipon. A meal won't be complete without soup. Alas, even if it tastes good, they use powdered sinigang mix. Oh wells!

Grilled Squid

During market days, we always but shrimp and squid and sometimes fish but NEVER meat. So there's always a chance that we'd be feasting on shrimps, squid and fish. Some days are lucky when "pusit lumot" is available in the market. These are the big squid that is preferred by most people for grilling.

This is a no-brainer meal that's always a hit at our dinner table.

Alavar's De Cebu Part I

A friend who invited me, my daughter and two teachers from my daughter's school treated us for dinner at Alavar's Restaurant. I've heard about this restaurant from my parents way, way back. I think they have a branch in Quezon City in the olden days.

Abalone

NOUN: Any of various large edible marine gastropods of the genus Haliotis, having an ear-shaped shell with a row of holes along the outer edge. The colorful pearly interior of the shell is often used for making ornaments. Also called an ear shell.

This alien-looking seafood is quite expensive in chinese restaurants. It tastes yummy especially with XO sauce.

RECIPE: TKG's Grilled Baby Squid

This recipe was inspired by our neighborhood 24/7 carinderia.

Sometimes, when I feel really lazy to cook, I would just check the phone book and order pizza or pansit or palabok or chicken or tapsi or squid. Sadly, the inihaw squid is not always available. So I decided to do something about my craving and made some kitchen experiment.

I
filled the squid with lemongrass then poured some salted sesame oil on the squid before grilling it. Good!
Marina Seafood Restaurant

We love seafood and we favor this resto-stall in Market Market.
