Cafe Adriatico Celebrates 35 Years

It is not every day that a restaurant gets to celebrate 35 years in the business so when I got invited by OpenricePh to attend Cafe Adriatico 's First Bloggers Night, I didn't think twice about it. Also, this is one of the restaurants that played a pivotal role in my life as a "foodie" years ago. The LJC Restaurant Group celebrates 35 years in the restaurant business this year. The Group, which bears the initials of its founder, the late Larry J. Cruz (LJC), began in 1979, when LJC, a journalist and information man, made a career change and opened Cafe Adriatico at the Remedios Circle in Malate, Manila.  And to toast 35 years in the business, Cafe Adriatico offers the Garlic Pork Leg Espanole , a celebratory dish. It is a Spanish style pork leg with fried garlic cloves and potatoes, paired with a special tangy herb sauce.

Chef Seiji Kamura in Action at The Maya Kitchen

Sundate at Sariwon

I've been curious about Sariwon , a Korean restaurant since it opened in Promenade but I haven't had the time to dine until last Sunday because daughter wanted to visit her beloved Fully Booked. Actually, this is Sariwon's second branch, the first one is in BGC (too far!) and we don't really frequent the area because of the traffic and the distance. Ban Chan . Look at that! The server mentioned that everything is unlimited, all we have to do is ask. Wow! Daughter and I liked that mashed potato/squash so much that we had 2 servings each. The potato and squash are well mashed that its really hard to decipher which is which. Must try! Then there's the peanuts which we thought at first was salty/spicy but turned out sweet/salty, we had an extra serving. Another favorite is the soya sprouts in sesame oil and the marble potatoes that merited another extra serving. The lettuce salad was quite good also. The kimchi was too spicy for me but I like it  nonetheless.

a.k.a. bagoong ... I received this cute bottle of bagoong from a friend two weeks ago but it was my hubby who did the initial food tasting. He mixed a tsp of bagoong with vinegar and used it as dipping sauce for his favorite fried danggit. He gave it a thumbs up!
